Garden season has officially started

We started our first set of seeds indoors today!  Four cabbages, eight leeks and two cauliflowers are just the beginning.

We are trying a couple of new things this year.  One thing is that I made the seed-starting containers out of newspaper.  The second new thing is that we bought a heating pad.  Our downstairs space is pretty chilly and we haven’t had much luck growing seeds in the past.  So we now have a grow light and heat.  Hopefully we’ll have very happy seedlings soon.

It was exciting to start the seeds, especially since this is what it looks like outside right now.

it's still winter!

We are expecting a lot more snow tonight too – so it’s great to start a little bit of spring inside.
